The Long Short & Capri Pants Worth Buying

Long shorts and capri pants are making a polished comeback for summer. From tailored Bermuda shorts to sleek knit capris, these are the effortless styles bringing a refined, city-ready feel to warm-weather dressing.

There's no denying it — longer shorts and capri pants are a great way to feel pulled together during the hot summer months.

What makes Bermuda shorts and capri pants so appealing is their versatility. They offer the ease and comfort of warm-weather dressing while still feeling appropriate for office days or dinner plans. I've especially been drawn to styles with clean tailoring, soft structure, and fabrics that work easily from day to night. Paired with a button-down, slim tank, ballet flats, sneakers, or sandals, these silhouettes instantly create that effortless, understated look that's practical while always looking polished. They give you more coverage without sacrificing style. Win-win!

Here are the styles I think are worth the get:

Reformation Drew Short These low-rise, knee-length shorts strike the perfect balance between relaxed and tailored. My favorite!

Banana Republic High-Rise Italian Wool Bermuda Short These lightweight wool Bermuda shorts feel sophisticated without trying too hard. Ideal for dressing up with a blazer or down with a simple top and flats.

Uniqlo Jersey Pleated Long Short An easy everyday option that still feels polished. The jersey fabric makes these incredibly comfortable, while the pleated silhouette keeps them looking elevated — perfect for errands, travel days, or casual dinners. I love the three color options too.

Zara Denim Capri Pant The slim shape pairs perfectly with sandals, mesh flats, or a kitten heel for evening.

Reformation Jill Cropped Knit Pant Fitted, flattering, and incredibly versatile — these work beautifully with oversized shirting or a tank top.

The Cardigan Worth Buying

A timeless cardigan is hard to find — which is exactly why the Alex Mill Nico Chunky Cardigan has become a forever favorite. With its soft chunky cotton knit, oversized buttons, and perfectly relaxed fit, it’s the kind of layer that works year-round and instantly elevates everything in your closet.

I'm a huge fan of cardigans and wear them year-round. When the weather can't make up its mind, a cardigan is the perfect layering piece for those in-between days when you want warmth without the commitment of a full jacket. I own two Alex Mill cardigans, and they've both become true closet staples.

I first came across the Nico cardigan at one of my favorite shops in Santa Barbara, Jake & Jones. It's the perfect find for that May gray, June gloom weather we experience in SB — made from a chunky cotton knit with dropped shoulders and oversized buttons, it has that effortless, thrown-together look that's somehow always chic. I've worn it over swimsuits, maxi dresses, or just tossed over the shoulders with a white tank, jeans, and flip flops.

The Nico is one of those pieces that's hard to find on sale — so when it happens, it's worth paying attention. Bloomingdale's currently has it marked down 25% for a limited time. Grab it while you can!

White Denim Worth Buying

Memorial Day weekend always feels like the unofficial start of white denim season. From timeless Levi’s 501s to modern barrel and wide-leg styles, these are the white jeans and shorts worth buying right now.

Memorial Day weekend has always felt like the unofficial start of white denim season.

Personally, I’m a believer in white jeans year-round,  but there’s something about the Memorial holiday weekend when they feel like the perfect option to wear to a bbq gathering.

Crisp white denim has become a true wardrobe staple. The right pair works well and looks polished with a blazer, a striped sweater, a classic white tee, or oversized button-down.

Stylewise, I am personally drawn to straight-leg, wide-leg, and barrel styles but it is such an individual choice. It’s really up to you and what you feel most confident wearing.

Here's what I think is worth buying right now:

Straight Leg: Levi’s 501

There's a reason the 501 has been around forever. The fit is timeless and they work with everything from loafers to sandals to sneakers. Tonne Goodman, who spent over 20 years at Vogue as Fashion Director and now serves as their Sustainability Editor, has worn these as part of her personal uniform for years.  I used to live on the same street as Tonne in the West Village and would spot her in them regularly — and she'd show up to appointments at our office in them too. If they are good enough for Tonne, they are good enough for me!

Favorite Barrel: Zara

My very first post for The Get was about Zara's barrel jeans, so naturally the white version had to make this list.I love this pair because the shape feels modern without looking overly exaggerated.

Favorite Wide-Leg: Agolde & Nili Lotan

The Agolde Ren and Nili Lotan Tribeca Jeans jeans are structured enough to look polished, but relaxed enough to wear casually during the day. I especially love wide-leg white denim paired with minimal sandals, a tank, and cashmere sweater.

Favorite White Denim Shorts: Levi’s & Agolde

Both styles have that slightly vintage, broken-in feel and are easy to wear all summer.

The Beach Chair Worth Buying

The Tommy Bahama beach chair has officially earned cult status for a reason. After years of resisting the island-core aesthetic, I finally bought one — and now completely understand the hype. From thoughtful storage and comfort features to its best-in-class portability, here’s why this beach chair is worth the investment — plus the fashion collaborations I wish the brand would do next.

It’s taken me years to finally say this, but I am now officially a proud owner of a Tommy Bahama beach chair and umbrella.

I resisted for a long time. Not because I doubted the functionality, but because I couldn’t quite get past the tropical “island-core” aesthetic. Still, after a recent beach weekend surrounded by Tommy Bahama chairs, I completely understand why these chairs have become a cult classic.

The chair really does check every box. It’s lightweight (under 8 pounds), comfortable, easy to carry, and thoughtfully designed with all the essentials: backpack straps, multiple storage pockets, an insulated cooler pouch, towel bar, drink holder, detachable pillow, and five reclining positions. There are even higher-seat versions, canopy styles, and deluxe options depending on your preference.

The chair is also the most consistently recommended beach chairs on the market. It has appeared on best-of lists from The New York Times Wirecutter,Travel + Leisure, and New York Magazine, with reviewers praising its durability, portability, comfort, and smart storage features.

That said, I still think there’s a huge missed opportunity in the design department. Tommy Bahama has experimented with collaborations before, including a recent partnership with John Robshaw, but not within the beach chair category itself from what I can tell.

Personally, I would love to see a limited-edition fashion or design collaboration. Imagine beach chairs in iconic prints from Marimekko, Missoni, Farm Rio, or Love Shack Fancy?

Until then, this chair still fully earns its place as a total get.

12 Nail Colors Worth The Get

From sheer pinks to iconic reds and deep vampy tones, these are the timeless nail colors worth saving for your next salon appointment.

Nail trends come and go, but certain shades never lose their appeal. Think of them as the beauty equivalent of a great black blazer or perfectly worn-in denim — timeless, effortless, and always chic.

Enjoying a good mani/pedi has been one of my favorite self-care indulgences since I was in high school and there are a handful of nail colors that continue to stand out season after season. The sheer pinks everyone requests by name, the crisp milky whites that somehow work year-round, the iconic reds that instantly make you feel polished, and the deep vampy shades that always return the minute temperatures drop.

These are the shades that transcend trends because the colors are simply perfect. They consistently look great year-round.

Below, the classic nail shades truly worth The Get.

Light Pink

Soft, sheer pink will never go out of style. Clean, understated, and universally flattering, these are the shades that make nails look polished without trying too hard.

Milky White

The modern neutral. Milky white nails feel fresh, minimal, and quietly luxurious — especially during summer months.

The Get Tip: Layer OPI Funny Bunny with Essie Ballet Slippers for the perfect soft, milky pink manicure.

Classic Red

Nothing feels more timeless than a great red nail. Whether you prefer a bright tomato red or a true classic crimson, these shades never miss.

Deep Red, Brown & Black

Moody nail shades always make a comeback. Rich oxbloods, deep browns, and nearly-black shades add instant sophistication and feel especially chic in the fall and winter.

Recalling all my favorite shades has me thinking about my favorite nail salon in the city…more on that in a future post! xx
